I have stepped up to 10k the MASSEY Way!
I have accepted the Massey Challenge because I want to see a world without cancer. VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center is working to save lives and find cures right here in Virginia. To support their life-saving cancer research, I have accepted the Massey Challenge to fundraise and to give my miles meaning at the Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10k.
By fundraising for Massey, my 10k will have special meaning and honor those I love who are battling – or have battled cancer.
This year our team is SHEILAH'S SOLE MATES and we'll be walking and raising money for the VCU Massey Cancer Center in honor of our friend, Sheilah O'Connor, who died in 2025 after a 6-year battle with cancer.
Sheilah and I met back in 1977 when we were randomly paired as roommates at American University in DC.
Although she didn't walk with us, Sheilah was in RVA last April during the marathon for a little college reunion of sorts with our fellow college friend, Angela Zipperer. Angela and I walked our first Monument Avenue 10k together in 2025 and this year, we will walk together again in Sheilah's honor.
We hope you'll consider donating to SHEILAH'S SOLE MATES!
Join us and be UNStoppable in the fight against cancer!
Will you make a donation towards my fundraising goal or join my team?
Thank you!
patrice & the Sheilah's Sole Mates Team.
